Family Managed Services (FMS) is a funding option that enables families to hire and direct their own staff to support a family member with developmental disabilities to live a full life in community. The Alberta Government’s Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program provides this funding for people with developmental disabilities. The individual must have a permanent disability and require the support of a support person to be eligible for the card.

Offers support services for students with diverse needs and disabilities. Students with documented disabilities are able to access classroom and exam accommodations for all courses, including online classes.

Easter Seals is pleased to partner with Scotia Bank, through its ScotiaRISE commitment, to offer financial grants and mentorship opportunities to students in Alberta who are currently in or who will be entering high school. The grants are valued at $1000 per student. Join the Lacrossing Barriers and Community Wellness team for drop-in Adaptive Lacrosse at the Deerfoot Sportsplex. Ages 6 and up, all abilities and parents are welcome to play.

These sessions are centered upon giving participants with physical and/or cognitive disabilities the experience to participate in various adaptive watersports. Participants and their friend, family member, or aide will learn the basics of paddling with one of our trained instructors while building their skills and confidence on the water. At the Adaptive Physical Activity for Kids program, youth will be guided through a variety of activities and experiences that are personalized for them over a series of classes. Rise and Shine offers Part-Time and Full-Time placements for families with FMS (family managed services) PDD funding. Our program offers flexibility to families so that they can manage their lives and not have to worry about their loved one with special needs. Our Key Program Components are :Peer Interaction, Physical Activity, Cooking and Baking, Art and Special Projects, Music and Movement Therapy, Volunteering, Life Skills and Leisure Activities.

Adult day programs are designed for people over the age of 18 who may have physical and/or memory challenges, or are living with a chronic illness. The programs play a key role in allowing people to remain living in the community as long as possible by optimizing their level of physical, spiritual, social and emotional functioning. **Those who live in supportive living, long‑term care or are receiving funding from Persons with Developmental Disabilities are not eligible.**

The Alberta Health Services Mental Health Help Line is a 24 hour, 7 day a week, 365 days a year, confidential service that provides support, information and referrals to Albertans experiencing mental health concerns. The line is staffed by a multidisciplinary team comprised of nurses, psychiatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychologists. The service provides crisis support, mental health or addiction screening and assessment over the phone, general information about a mental health or addiction topic, information about local service options for addiction or mental health and how to access them, and strategies people can use at home to support their emotional well-being. The ASF/ASF Canada Family Fund was created to provide financial assistance to families supporting individuals with Angelman syndrome. Family members can apply for funds that are needed to improve the quality of life for an individual with Angelman syndrome. Step By Step Caregivers has developmental & behavioral aides who play an important role in teaching and nurturing various skills that our young patients need in life. We also support them, aiding them in the implementation of learned life skills in their daily lives.

Big Hearts is an activity based group for trans, gender diverse and gender creative children under the age of 12 and their caregivers.

The Centre is an approved Early Childhood Services (ECS) provider through Alberta Education. We use a naturalistic developmental behavioural approach, an approach proven to be effective for children with autism. The Centre’s onsite PUF program serves all students who meet the criteria, regardless of whether or not they have a diagnosis of autism. Our program serves students 5-19 years of age who fit the Alberta Education criterion of special education needs. The Triple P program is a scientifically researched, curriculum-based parenting program for families of children aged 2 – 17. This program offers tools and strategies to help parents encourage positive behaviour, build a good relationship with their child, help teach new skills and encourage development and manage misbehaviour, as well as supporting parents to take care of themselves, cope with stress and gain confidence. The child must be eligible for supports through Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) to access this service.

Sibshops provide young brothers and sisters with peer support & information around their sibling’s disability in a safe setting. Siblings will meet other siblings to have fun, laugh, & talk about the good & not-so-good parts of having a sibling with a disability. We will play games, learn, chat, and of course have fun! Sibshops are offered in person and online and are for siblings with no diagnosis.

In this 12-week program, your child will learn skills to cope with challenging situations within play environments. They will learn to take turns, follow their peer's lead, cope with losing and problem-solve.

KidSport provides grants to kids from families facing financial barriers so they can participate in registered sport programs and experience the lifelong benefits of a season of sport. This is a service we provide to promote client’s inclusion in community activities and personal development through activities such as arts, education,recreation, involvement in community association programs, and participation in volunteering. Through this service, Canadian Companion Services develops social opportunities for Client’s experiences in the community based on their direction, and goals. These activities provide opportunities to connect the Client to people within their community.

A referral from a health care professional is required. The Canadian Red Cross Short Term Health Equipment Loan Program allows people to return home from hospital earlier and gives independence and dignity to those in palliative care. Individuals can receive aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, bath seats, benches, commodes and toilet seats, crutches and canes, bed handles and other durable medical equipment.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it not only affects them but the whole family. Parents are understandably very busy attending appointments and providing extra care for the child who is ill. Sometimes, the healthy siblings become quiet and keep to themselves. Other times, they try to find connections in challenging ways. This program is made with siblings in mind. They will be able to learn about cancer, so the whole experience can become a bit less scary. The program also gives them a way to express their feelings and explore them with someone close to them (if they choose), as well as tools to understand what they are feeling and what to do about it.

Sharon specializes in completing capacity assessments for parents of 17-year old children transitioning into adulthood. Completing a capacity assessment allows for sole guardianship and/or trusteeship or shared decision-making abilities in medical, educational, vocational, legal, and financial matters. The process involves a pre-assessment consultation, follow-up interview, and completion of required forms.

Kim is available to complete capacity assessments (CAR) in the community. She specializes in working with clients with cognitive and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, fetal alcohol syndrome, dementia, and mental health concerns.

This 4 week workshop is for parents and loved ones coping with the many challenges of caring for someone they love struggling with an eating disorder. Child Development Services (CDS) is a multidisciplinary tertiary service for children from birth to 18 years of age that present with multiple and complex developmental, behavioural and learning challenges. The overarching goal of CDS is to provide diagnostic clarity, recommendations* and information. CDS works closely with children and families, community resources, educational supports and other AHS services to help children reach their full potential. *treatment may be available for children from birth to 5 years of age.

Calgary Alternative Day Options (CADO) is a community based day program serving adults with disabilities. The program occurs in inclusive settings which allow natural interaction with a variety of people.

Central Intake for referral to Calgary Zone Home Care, Supportive Living and Long Term Care. This service provides a single point for service access and delivery approach that provides Albertans with reasonable, timely and appropriate access to publicly-funded continuing care health services. It is based on availability and determination of unmet need. Anyone living in Alberta with a valid provincial health care card (or registration in progress) can receive Home Care services as long as their health care needs can be safely met in the home.

In partnership with 211 Alberta, the CWA can help Métis Albertans aged 16 and older in their mental wellness journey by providing information and referrals to local mental health related supports and services; advocacy; support with identifying mental wellness related goals and improving mental health; system navigation to appropriate mental health, community, and cultural supports; and follow-up appointments by phone, when needed, for continued support. Autism Calgary provides counselling with a Registered Provisional Psychologist with experience and knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and mental health. Distress Centre Calgary (DCC) has provided 24 hour crisis support in Calgary and southern Alberta since 1970. We do this through our 24 hour crisis line, email and daily chat and daily text for our youth. We also have professional counselling for clients with issues that can’t be resolved over the phone. DBT Skills Training is one mode within a comprehensive DBT treatment program. This 12-week program teaches specific skills to increase an individual’s capabilities to cope with emotions and experience life differently than they currently are. DBT has been found to be effective for people experiencing problems such as: depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and disordered eating.

Day Camps at PREP create a welcoming environment for our students to come spend their days off with old friends and new. We explore different themes with visual art activities, sensory and pretend play, music and dance, gross motor activities and cooking. Our therapy-centered camps are focused on various therapeutic goals and will be supported by one of our therapists on site. If your child would benefit from 1-to-1 assistance, we welcome your respite or community aide at camp.

In a safe and caring environment, we provide structured activities including musical activities, arts, crafts, sensory based activities, games, outings and technology choices. To meet the unique needs of every client, we work closely with their parents and guardians to carefully evaluate and personalize the supports for each individual who applies for programming with FRC.

We are currently offering a full time day program for adults with motor disabilities, running Monday- Friday from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Offers a movement, social, and communication program within the day program.

We provide highly specialized support to individuals who require complex behavioral and mental health services, and who are also in need of specialized communication interventions as a result of vision loss, hearing loss or both. We can provide anywhere from 5 hours of day support per week to 24 hours per day. To be eligible for The Community Support Program the individual must have Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) funding.

If you are a survivor of childhood cancer, our scholarship fund was designed to level the playing field for you and your family. The Kids Cancer Care Derek Wandzura Memorial Scholarship, presented by Enmax, is a one-time award available to childhood cancer patients and survivors, for use in post-secondary studies. Scholarships are awarded based on the quality of application. Applicants must be a childhood cancer patient or survivor and be a resident of Southern Alberta. Diagnosis must have occurred at age 18 or younger.

Developmental Behaviour Services are intended to support families of children with a range of disabilities to acquire specific skills. The program is delivered through clinician only, clinician and aide support, or peer-group programs. The services aim to assist families and support their child’s healthy development.

Diamond Willow Youth Lodge is a safe, welcoming place for youth between the ages of 12 - 29 to drop-in or participate in a variety of programs and activities. Renfrew’s Early Childhood Services (ECS) program nurtures learning and social skills that last a lifetime. Even among our youngest learners, we foster an environment of enthusiasm, caring, respect and openness to innovative ideas. As an independent school, we modify the curriculum set out by Alberta Education to meet the special needs of our children. In Renfrew’s Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes, learning is done through play! We know that play is vital to a child’s development and essential for healthy emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental growth.

PREP has provided a high quality Early Childhood Services (ECS) program to PUF eligible children in Calgary since 1989. Our goal is to provide an enriched learning environment with therapy services tailored to meet each individual child’s unique needs as they prepare for a successful transition to Kindergarten and beyond. Our program prides itself on utilizing the Program Unit Funding (PUF) grant for families who have an eligible child. We offer a certified teacher with aide support leading the program, small class sizes, support of therapy services including speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and behaviour therapy, as well as community preschool placement options. Programming is available for children ages 2.8 – 6 years old.

The Early Intervention Program provides programs for children from the time of diagnosis to 6 years and their families. Programs include a Specialized Service for toddlers, combined Specialized Services and Program Unit Funding (PUF) and Specialized Services only. Programming is conducted in the home, and community.

Our weekly parent-child classes for children ages 0-3 provide a warm and welcoming introduction to PREP. Parents value the opportunity to meet and share with other families who are starting their challenging yet rewarding journey of parenting a child with Down syndrome. Parents will have the opportunity to build a network of support as they learn through our Early Learning instructor who infuses therapy into all her classes as well as monthly visits from a therapist in the classroom. The Early Learning program is the first experience families have with PREP and we strive to lay the groundwork to create many trusting and long-lasting relationships for years to come.

With this program, Voices of Albertans with Disabilities support students who have a disability to achieve their post-secondary goals. A successful elementary school experience provides children with a solid foundation for learning and social interaction. Renfrew’s Elementary Education Program gives children with highly complex needs a safe environment in which to grow and develop their joy of learning.

Our emergency family shelter program provides temporary emergency shelter to families when they’re unable to stay in their existing homes and they have nowhere else to turn. If you and your family are facing eviction or have recently become homeless we are here to help! We will provide your family a safe roof over your head and your family will stay together in a semi-private environment that includes access to three healthy meals and snacks each day. While staying with us, our family support team will work with you to find new housing as quickly as possible and provide the necessary supports to help achieve housing independence.

The Emergency Food Hamper Program is at the core of the Calgary Food Bank’s mission. The food hampers contain ten days worth of nutritious food for each person. When the stress of providing food is literally taken off the table, the emergency can then be addressed.

Our emergency shelter provides more than just a place to stay for those at risk of or experiencing homelessness. We offer a broad spectrum of care including health programs and housing options – all geared to helping people find their way home. As a housing-focused shelter, we work with individuals to make their stay with us as brief as possible. Provides low-barrier support for adults (18+) with no eligibility requirements and no referral required.

The students at CBE's Emily Follensbee School present with multiple, complex learning needs including those with cognitive disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, medical/health needs, and augmentative/alternate communication needs. Students at Emily Follensbee School are registered through a referred placement process by the CBE Inclusive Learning team, your local community school and/or private operator program (eg. EmploymentWorks is a proven program that offers employment preparedness training and support, combined with job sampling and hands-on experience to autistic adults and persons with disabilities. The program is designed for individuals who want to enter or return to the workforce, and are willing to develop and practice the skills needed to support employment success. The program is currently offered in two formats: In-Person and Online.

Easter Seals Alberta’s Equipment Loan Program provides equipment to children, youth, adults, seniors and families with any disability. This program is intended to be a funding option for individuals who have exhausted all other funding resources for accessibility equipment. Clients must not be eligible for government-based funding (AADL), and we cannot cover the client cost-share portion of AADL funding. Eligibility for funding includes power mobility devices (scooters, power wheelchairs), lifts (vertical lifts, porch lifts, stair lifts), hospital beds, elevating seats, ceiling tracks, strollers, portable ramps, walking aids, and lift assist chairs. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list; other equipment requests may be considered.

The FASD Action Hall (FAH) is a peer support group for individuals living with FASD and their support person(s). The group designs what the sessions will be and the topics they want to cover over the year. (Jan to June and Sept to Dec) Participation in FAH can result in individuals having a better understanding of FASD and their personal strengths.

Enviros fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) services range across the lifespan. We are the only agency in Calgary that has a multi-disciplinary team that delivers FASD assessments, diagnostic services, support to caregivers with a child and/or youth with an FASD diagnosis and adults with a diagnosis, as well as the only agency selected to complete FASD assessments for the youth courts.

The City of Calgary Fair Entry program provides programs and services for low-income Calgarians. The Fair Entry program lets you apply for multiple programs and services with one application. Your eligibility is based on your income.

Our family counselling program supports families who have children with disabilities, parents who require support facing challenges related to their child’s disability and can be provided for parents, or for the whole family. The child must be eligible for supports through Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) to access this service. Note that if the family does not have approved counselling hours included in their FSCD contract, the family would pay for service. The family may be able to submit for reimbursement through their benefits plans.

Family focused ASL (FFASL) is exclusive to Deaf & Hear Alberta, and features common everyday language used within the family setting. FFASL provides a unique learning environment for families with Deaf members (or with severe or progressive hearing loss) and professionals who work with children who are Deaf or who have a developmental disability. The suggested minimum age of child participants is 6 years. There is no cost to join.

First Steps seeks to fill this gap by providing classes to children ages 19 months - 3 years. Children participate in activities and therapy aimed at building communication, engagement, sensory awareness, fine motor and gross motor skills. Early intervention classes can help reduce the long-term impacts of developmental delays as your child grows. Offers 2 day, 3 day, and 5 day programs.

The CRFKA Mentor Program matches each new foster family and many kinship families with an experienced mentor to support and guide them through the first 12 months of their fostering journey. This is after-hours, peer-support of someone who has knowledge of the “system”, working with biological family, behavior management and all things related to having a foster/kinship child in your care.

Prospect’s foundational literacy program for learners who have a developmental disability. Program participants will receive personalized 1-2 hour lessons, up to twice a week, to improve their literacy levels based on their needs and goals. Support may be provided in small groups and learners can also receive an additional 1 hour of one-to-one support.

A fun and engaging social-emotional skills learning program for children and teens. Offers individualized or group sessions for children and teens to learn and practice skills for making friends and handling emotions. The program is offered FREE of charge to residents of the City of Calgary.

We come straight to your home, office, retirement home or care centre. We have portable collapsible dental equipment, including a full dental chair, a compressor unit that can be set up in any room that has an electrical outlet (preferably with a hard floor surface). We can also work with patients that have reclining wheelchairs, without requiring a transfer. We offer DIRECT BILLING, including all government plans. Knowledgeable in dealing with all the complexities and many medical constraints related to dental hygiene, for instance, dementia, Alzheimer’s, cerebral palsy, MS, etc.

Designed by certified music therapists and specifically tailored for persons with diversabilities, FunDrum champions the expression of music of each participant, echoing their unique experience and personal beat. Participants, family members, and caregivers merge into an online community with music at the core.

PLAN Calgary offers several supports to help families plan for the future for their loved one with a disability, including building a Personal Network of Supports, building a future plan, in addition to connections with other families through workshops and networking events.

Our Digital literacy workshops cover many topics. You can learn to build a website, create graphic content, connect with others online, grow your internet vocabulary and increase your employable digital skills. This program is for those aged 18 and over, those who are legally entitled to work in Canada, have access to the internet, have an interest in receiving training to build digital skills, and have a self-identified disability-based barrier.

The Gateways program supports families raising children with developmental disabilities who are experiencing additional barriers (mental health, multiple children with disabilities, low income and/or English as a second language) in accessing resources and services in the community. Gateways also supports with the transition of children with a developmental disability to adult services, including assisting with applications, future planning, and ensuring the child has supports in place when they turn 18. Child must be eligible for FSCD to access this service.

Centre For Sexuality, in partnership with Families Matter, welcomes parents, families and caregivers of gender creative (Trans*, non-binary, gender independent, gender fluid, gender-queer, gender non-conforming) children, aged 4-14, to a monthly gathering. This support group is an opportunity for caregivers to share stories and experiences, support each other in a non-judgmental and safe atmosphere, and to learn more about gender creativity. The Good Food Box Program, (GFB) is a program under the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary, whereby anyone can purchase boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables at an affordable price. The Good Food Box Program offers a hands-up approach, opposed to a hands-out.

Rowan House Emergency Shelter is a short-term (30-day) emergency shelter for women, with or without children, experiencing domestic violence and abuse. The Emergency Shelter has 7 bedrooms with the capacity to support 24 individuals.

Recipients of an ARK Home Accessibility Renovation are selected based nominations by parents, friends, doctors or other support workers. An ARK Kid must be a child or youth up to 25 years old, live in the Calgary area and in a home owned by their parents or guardian, be in need of renovations that will improve their accessibility at home, and have a financial need.

The Accessibility Supports AccessAbilities Program is intended to provide home automation items to increase the quality of life and independence of Albertans living with disabilities. Equipment that is available under this program includes: Smart Speakers, Smart Displays, Smart Plugs, Smart Lighting, Smart Thermostats, Smart Locks, and Video Doorbells.

Horizon View is a five-storey building located in the community of Glamorgan. It offers 210 units consisting of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, as well as three-bedroom townhomes. Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) is a government funded program designed for in-home therapeutic family support. PREP is an approved FSCD provider allowing us to do 6 month Behaviour Developmental Support (BDS) or Special Services (SS) contracts for children with Down syndrome aged 1.5 – grade 6. Therapeutic supports include Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Behaviour Therapy, and aide support.

Supporting all diagnoses and mental health conditions (specializing in Autism and Developmental Disabilities), Canary Music Therapy works towards improving skills in emotional, cognitive, social, behavioural and physical domains through music driven interventions. Choose between 30 minute, 45 minute and 1 hour individual in-home sessions.

Family Managed Supports (FMS) is a funding option for families motivated to take a primary role in organizing the supports and services for their adult family member with an intellectual disability. With FMS, funds typically go directly to the family to hire and manage their own staff. FMS funded supports can provide opportunities related to adult education, employment, recreation, home and community participation.

Our Inclusive Child Care (ICC) Program supports licensed child care programs, approved family day homes and out-of-school care programs to successfully meet the developmental needs of all children. ICC is funded by the Alberta government and administered by Providence in Calgary and surrounding area and Fort McMurray and surrounding area. It is free to access for eligible child care programs. Kids Club is a multi-week evening grief group for children in grades 1-6. The group creates opportunities for children to meet others who are grieving. Group fees are on a sliding scale based on family income. No one is refused service because of an inability to pay.

Providence community programs are designed to focus on all areas of learning and development for children attending an approved community child care centre. These programs offer educational and therapeutic activities that are tailored to the individual needs of each child. Hospice Calgary's Living with Advanced Illness Centre supports clients of all ages living with an advanced illness, or those who have someone close to them living with an advanced illness (family member, close friend, etc.). Services include individual and family counselling, online workshops, and volunteer support. These services are offered from the point of diagnosis, for as long as needed.

At our core, we are a food bank, but a food bank with a difference! We provide nutritious, delicious, homemade frozen meals to clients who are unable to cook for their families. All services are completely free of charge. After we receive a request, we can typically organize volunteers and provide services within a few hours to 24 hours depending on the urgency of the request.

Annually LDAA provides an award up to $800 to assist an individual or individuals in one family who have a learning disability. Eligible programs and services will include, but not limited to, supporting the costs of attending a summer camp, social skill development courses, tutoring, assessments, and technology. The award cannot be used to register in a sports program or for private school tuition.

Matched Savings for Youth will teach you how to save and manage your money during 2-hour evening workshops, twice a month, for 9 months. Momentum will match the money you save 4:1, which you can spend on tuition, textbooks, a laptop for school, tools for work, RESP, RDSP, or starting your own business. If you save the maximum $50/month for 9 months, you will have $450 of your own funds and $1,800 of Momentum’s funds. That’s a combined savings of $2,250 towards your future!

Provides professional, first language, culturally sensitive support for immigrants and refugees women and their families; individual, couple and family counselling; support groups for men and women; referrals to community and clinical resources based on individual needs of clients; and educational workshops. The program is available for immigrant women and men who are permanent residents, refugees and Canadian citizens. Free childcare and first language support is available.

The Mentorship Program for Autism at University of Calgary aims to support students with autism spectrum disorder to enhance their likelihood of academic success or obtain additional supports for learning social skills and addressing mental health challenges. Each mentee will be paired with an individual mentor with whom they will meet on a biweekly basis. Participants must be enrolled with the University of Calgary in any capacity. Participants must have a formal diagnosis or self-identified diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

We provide speech and language services, primarily in daycare settings within Calgary and surrounding communities, to children aged 3 years 8 months to 6 years. Funding is provided by Alberta Education through their Mild/Moderate (MM) and Moderate Language Delay (PUF-MLD) grants.

Established in memory of Norman Denoon, the Easter Seals Alberta Norman Denoon Memorial Scholarship offers post-secondary academic scholarships to students living with disabilities or medical condition that have made a significant contribution through volunteerism or advocacy. Scholarships up to $5,000 per school year are given to qualified students working towards a post-secondary program in Alberta.

Pathways Pediatric Services Occupational Therapy programs feature highly trained Therapists with either a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree. Phyllis Davidson Easter Seals Scholarship offers post-secondary academic scholarships to students living with physical disabilities. Created in loving memory of Phyllis Davidson, these scholarships help ease financial strain and support the recipient’s academic success. Scholarships up to $5,000 per school year are given to qualified students working towards a post-secondary program in Alberta.

Play therapy is part of the child counselling services we offer in Calgary Unlike other approaches, it focuses on the therapeutic benefits of play. It leverages children’s natural ability to express feelings, solve problems, and interact with others through games, toys, and other creative activities. Although play therapy is especially appropriate for children ages 3 through 12 years old, it can also benefit adolescents and adults. For Calgary youth experiencing adversity due to mental health issues, socioeconomic issues, difficulty in school, difficulty at home or in care, anxiety, depression, or ADHD. This equine therapy program provides youth with equine education, positive relationships, mentorship, and the necessary skills for basic equine care and beginner riding. Youth will build confidence and gain new perspectives by creating meaningful relationships with horses, other riders, and facilitators.

Pathways is offering preliteracy groups to assist children in developing strong foundational skills for learning how to read. These are designed for preschool to grade 2 students, and geared towards children who have speech and language delays/disorders, learning disabilities, or a family history of reading disorders (including dyslexia).

G.R.I.T. Calgary offers individualized programs for preschool children who are eligible for Program Unit Funding (PUF). The needs of the child and family help to determine the components of each child’s Individual Program Plan. G.R.I.T. is designed to offer an educational alternative to parents who wish to be actively involved in their child’s education. The home can be a highly effective educational setting for young children, especially for children who are immune-compromised or medically fragile. In addition, the G.R.I.T. program is able to support children in their community preschool.

This program is suitable for children age 2-5. This program combines the teaching of all gross and fine motor skills including skills for life (feeding/ toilet training). This combines typical pre-school academics such as learning colours, shapes, numbers and letters as necessary.

Pacekids’ Early Childhood Services (ECS) Program follows the curriculum and standards set by Alberta Education and is an approved, Private ECS Operator for Program Unit Funding (PUF) from Alberta Education.

Counselling would be appropriate for children and youth with “typical” development, and with various special needs, such as, Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disorders. Counselling areas include: Play skills, social skills and peer interaction, behaviour problems, anxiety, emotional development and regulation, parent and child conflict, and parenting support and consultation. This counselling service provides psychological support for children and youth, ages 3-14 years old, and their parents.

Dedicated to providing new and current Pacekids families access to private assessment and direct therapy options for special needs children, Pacekids’ PAT team offers a full range of assessment and therapy services. Project UPLIFT is an eight-week, small group program for adults living with epilepsy. It’s designed to improve negative feelings and overall psychological quality of life by teaching skills and habits to better manage low mood, anxiety and depression. No cost to participate. For individuals newly diagnosed with epilepsy, or individuals struggling with their diagnosis.

Psychologists are specialists who assess an individual’s intellectual ability, achievement levels, social/emotional and behavioural functioning through standardized tests. This is referred to as a psycho-educational assessment. A psycho-educational assessment can be completed with children and adolescents (aged 6+) to help identify strengths as well as underlying challenges (e.g. ADHD, Learning Disabilities and any associated disorders).

The clinic provides assessments for school-aged children, including those transitioning into and out of K-12 schooling (approximately ages 5-20). A flat rate is charged for psychoeducational assessments.

Comprehensive psycho-educational assessments are also available to assess learning strengths and challenges. Tailored recommendations are provided to optimize learning at school and at home. The assessment may identify or diagnose learning difficulties/disabilities, intellectual delays, ADHD, or giftedness and will provide recommendations on how to best support your child’s unique learning profile.

The RAD Renovations Program has been an industry leader in transforming residential homes into safer and more accessible spaces for individuals with limited mobility. Their team of accessibility experts offers a variety of services including funding application assistance, site or home assessment, accessibility recommendation report, quotes from our qualified accessibility contractors and project coordination. RAD Renovations is largely targeted towards low income Calgarians with limited mobility.

Children who are diagnosed with a Learning Disability in reading or writing (or suspected of a Learning Disability) benefit from direct and intensive instruction. Read/Write Programs offer evidence-based instruction customized to each student's needs. Programs range in intensity from 60 minutes per day to 3 hours per day. The vast majority of our programs are offered in a one-to-one setting.

PREP’s Reading Program is designed specifically for students in grades K-12 with Down syndrome. Our highly skilled reading team modifies each lesson based on the interests and abilities of each student. Goals are coordinated with families and, when applicable, teaching teams through the child’s school. Each session is 45-minutes in length with 15 minutes afterwards to debrief with parents or other caregivers on strategies and goals. Weekly and bi-weekly options are available.

The Genesis Centre offers a number of recreational activities and community camps.

Resources for students in Alberta’s K to 12 education system who are blind or visually impaired. In order to be eligible to borrow alternate format resources or student equipment, a student with a visual impairment is required to be assessed and registered with SSVI by a qualified specialist in the field of educating students who are visually impaired. The individuals who are able to do this work can be accessed from the school jurisdiction or the local Regional Collaborative Service Delivery office.

Respite Care Connection (RCC) offers weekend and summer programs for children and youth between the ages of 6 and 17 who have diagnoses such as ADHD, FASD, autism, and other conditions that prevent them from participating in, and benefiting from, neurotypical programs. All activities are held in the community and designed to provide both recreational and growth opportunities that are specific to your child’s developmental needs.

Respite care is about helping you maintain a healthy balance so that you can continue to enjoy your own quality of life. It is okay to need and want to take a break from the caregiving role. This break can be for a few hours, few days or even a week or more.

Families can reach out to when searching for the perfect respite worker for their loved one, I will then send them an application form, and meet with them. Once they are screened, they will have access to the data base to browse through the list of qualified respite workers in hopes to find the perfect connection for their loved one.

At Post Natal Helpers, we understand that having a child with special needs creates its own set of unique challenges. Our goal is to play a positive, supportive role in the home while parents use the time as they need. The caregivers at Post Natal Helpers have experience working with children with many different diagnoses and are always interested in learning. At Post Natal Helpers we focus on family care and siblings are always welcome to be in the home. Direct billing to FSCD is offered on behalf of families.

We offer respite services that will help provide temporary relief to family members in terms of their caregiving duties. Our respite services are available on an hourly, daytime, nighttime, 24 hours, several days at a time or even a weekly basis.

Short-term and temporary housing support services for individuals whose regular housing support services are temporarily unable to provide support. These services can be provided in or out of the individual’s home and are separate from the housing model.

Offers skill building programs that work on fine motor skills, making friends, anxiety, and confidence, as well as non-competitive sports programs. Skill Builder programs are open to all children and youth. If your child would benefit from one-on-one support and/or is eligible for aide support (i.e. FSCD), they ask caregivers to make arrangements and notify the Programs Director.

Skills Groups are skill development workshops that are facilitated by two Sinneave staff members (one is an Autistic self-advocate). We are currently running two Skills Groups: Executive Functioning (EF) and Acceptance & Commitment Training (ACT). In each 90-minute workshop, participants learn a variety of strategies that are foundational to success in various aspects of daily life. They are then given opportunities to practice the strategies with the support of the facilitators and other group members. Skills Group sessions happen once a week for a number of weeks.

CLG’s Social Benefits Advocacy Program (SBAP) offers information, advice and guidance to those facing challenges with the Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) Program. They can help with many issues including benefit denials, cut-offs and assessed overpayments. They may even be able to represent you at appeal.

Our Social-Respite program focuses on opportunities for children aged 3-17 years old with differing abilities to build stronger foundations for social interactions and community involvement. Children and youth get to be a part of the community and make friendships while parents receive the benefit of respite support! Youth learn practical skills such as managing money, using public transport and self-advocacy. Skills To Learn Inc. offers programs for children who are 6-13 years old who require support in improving their social cognition. We offer weekly, small group programs with same-aged peers. We are approved as Service Provider for Behavioural Developmental Supports and can direct bill to FSCD for those families approved for funding.

Between Friends offers a variety of social and recreational programming for all ages and abilities throughout the year, including their W.E.S.O.A.R., Adventurers, and G.L.O.W. programming, in addition to their special events programs.

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools support success for every student in an inclusive classroom setting to the fullest extent possible. However, the severity of a disability may require partial or full alternative placements to better meet the learning needs of some children. Specialized Services for children from six months of age to 10 years old, based on clinical discretion. Specialized Services is a program that is designed to work directly with children with disabilities and their families. By utilizing therapists from up-to-four disciplines (as determined by the FSCD MDT process), the trans-disciplinary approach allows the team to work collaboratively to meet the various needs of a child and their family.

Renfrew’s Specialized Services Program is an intensive half-day program designed to help children improve their daily living skills at home and in the community. The program serves children ages 2 to 6 years old who are enrolled in Renfrew’s Early Childhood Services (ECS) program and who meet the criteria for funding through Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD).

Lead Foundation supports families of children with severe disabilities in learning how they can help their child grow and participate in everyday activities at home and in their community. They take pride in the flexibility they can offer families when tailoring Specialized Services programs to suit their needs. Their teams are experienced in working with children with a variety of needs and their families.

Services are designed to improve daily living skills and increase caregiver capacity to provide developmentally-appropriate parenting. To access Specialized Services at the Centre, children require a documented diagnosis of autism or a query of autism and must qualify under FSCD’s criteria.

Specialized transportation (small yellow school bus) is available to students who: attend their designated school for their specialized program, system class, or unique setting, and are assigned to specialized transportation as their mode; or students with mobility challenges who have been assigned to specialized transportation. Families register for specialized transportation using MyCBE, every school year.

Provides personal care services including activities of daily living, complex health support, and support for community inclusion and social activities.

Spectrum Advantage is designed to support individuals who live on the autism spectrum find and retain employment. Our four month initiative includes four weeks of paid job readiness preparation training classes specifically geared towards people living on the autism spectrum, followed by a minimum of 12 weeks paid employment for program graduates. During the first 12 weeks of employment, both Spectrum Advantage participants and employers are supported by an Autism Employment Specialist. To apply, candidates must be 18-30 yrs old; candidates must NOT be registered in a secondary school; candidates must be able to work independently without an aide or support worker; and candidates must reside in Calgary and area.

At SMILE, our Speech Language Pathologist helps children with most aspects of communication and feeding. Being that communication can come in many forms, such as body language, eye gaze, vocalizations, language, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) and other expressions, these are all areas that our SLP explores with clients.

We provide person-centred speech and language therapy at home and virtually in Calgary and southern Alberta. Direct therapy and assessment is offered at home and virtually to best fit your family's individual needs. Therapy is delivered 1-1 or in groups in a familiar environment using the resources you have in your own home to best support success. Pathways Pediatric Services Speech Language Pathology programs feature highly trained professional Pathologists with Master’s Degrees. A Speech Language Pathologist assesses, treats and helps with the prevention of communication disorders in infants, children and adults.

Our camps are designed to provide intensive intervention to assist children with communication development during the summer months. Each camper will participate in both small and large group activities designed to improve communication, attention, social interaction, fine and gross motor skills.

Offers a variety of sport and wellness programs for children, youth, and adults with disabilities including bowling, skiing, track & field, basketball, golf, swimming, walk/run club, and more. Sport specific programs are for individuals 8 and older - young athlete programs are available for children ages 2-7. Special Olympics programs are open to individuals with an intellectual disability ages 2 years and older. Participation is open to all individuals with an intellectual disability, regardless of the level or degree of that person’s disability, and whether or not that person also has other mental or physical disabilities.

CAF’s flagship grant program aims to remove the barriers that exist between adaptive athletes and their pursuit of sport and fitness. Individuals worldwide with permanent physical disabilities are eligible to apply for the CAF grant. In order to apply for a CAF grant, an individual must have a permanent physical disability that impairs mobility, affects the neuromuscular system, or impairs balance or motor control. Chronic pain, hearing impairments, cognitive and developmental disabilities do not qualify for support through CAF’s grant programs.

St. Anthony School offers a specialized placement that supports students in Grades 1 to 12 who are diagnosed with a variety of complex conditions, however, most students have a diagnosis of Level 3 autism paired with something else. Students develop communication, regulation and social-interaction skills and their needs dictate adaption and modifications to the school day. Students are accepted at St. Anthony through district consultation.

If your child was born outside Canada, register them for school through the Calgary Catholic School District (CSSD) through the St. John Reception Centre located at 15 - 12 Street NW, Calgary, AB. Interpreter services are available upon request at no cost to the family.

Children enter Early Childhood Services (ECS) with us as early as two years eight months and can continue through preschool and kindergarten until they enter grade one. Step by Step is a private ECS provider that follows the Alberta Education curriculum and standards. We offer summer camp programs for children of all ages affected by cancer, including children who have had a parent with cancer.

Our camp is uniquely designed for kids with cerebral palsy and similar neuromotor and physical disabilities. Camps consist of different on-site activities, as well as trips to off-site locations. Each camper is paired with a member of our camp staff to provide support and personal care.

This program runs as an intensive program. The camp involves our typical movement programming in lying, sitting and standing alongside all the typical camp experiences with recreation, and social interaction held on-site.

This provides opportunity for clients to receive customized residential support services within family environment that fits the client's specific needs and lifestyle.

JKS camps are low ratio small group week long sessions. We run in a max 3:1 child to instructor ratio. We are not a 1:1 camp. If your your child requires 1:1 please phone to discuss possible options if you are interested in camp for your child. (We do allow aides to attend camp with campers). Participants swim everyday and other activities include: rock climbing, trampoline park, hiking, paddle boarding, canoeing, field and sports games, and luge.

Offer Swim Skills lessons for children aged 5-14 and Swim Fit lessons for adolescents and adults. Offers private lessons for children ages 3 - adult.

The TIPS program supports adults (18+) with a developmental disability experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges. This is a voluntary program, with tailored strategies for each individual and their needs. The individual must have funding from PDD.

TOPP KIDS hosts Before & After School Care programs for elementary school-age children from kindergarten to grade 6. Programs are conveniently run on-site at your school (see website for participating Calgary schools), using a child-led, S.T.E.A.M-based approach to our activity planning. Children with all disabilities are welcome.

The Tawaw FRN Hubs offer a warm, family-friendly environment where people can drop-in to connect with each other, culture, and community supports. Programming is offered to families with children, and youth aged 0-18 years. Programming includes in-home visitation, Indigenous cultural supports, group and one-on-one parenting supports for families with young children, and more.

Cerebral Palsy Kids and Families helps fund items and recreational activities that directly benefit individuals with cerebral palsy. Funding requests may relate to vehicle modifications, home renovations, or personal equipment such as wheelchairs, adaptive technology, or other items to enhance or aid day-to-day living.

Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are open to students of all abilities who are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants and are involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated). The Charmaine Letourneau Scholarship is awarded each year to a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person who will attend an academic or training program at a qualified institution. Priority is given to individuals who demonstrate involvement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing organizations, school or community leadership, commitment to and diligence in studies, and likelihood the program of study will lead to employment or further educational opportunities.

The WORX provides employment search services to Calgarians with all types of disabilities. In addition to information resources and assistive technologies, The WORX also offers a variety of employment services including: employability assessments, career counselling, education and skill training placement, peer support, employer hiring events, DRES funding, and access to ASL for job search and job interviews. Bow Valley Equine Adaptive (formerly Rundle Riders Therapeutic Riding Association) is an adaptive (therapeutic) horse program for children and adults with intellectual, emotional, and physical challenges offering both riding programs and horsemanship – a vital program & unique to BVEA. Located in Canmore, Alberta, BVEA was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2001. As the only therapeutic riding organization in the Bow Valley, BVEA serves participants from Lake Louise to Canmore and Kananaskis and on occasion, participants from Calgary. Provides sub-specialized services for children with anxiety, selective mutism, ADHD, depression, challenging behaviours, and OCD.

Each year, we’ll give up to $3,000 to a person who is Deaf or hard-of-hearing. This person should be studying in a school program. The money can be used to help pay for school fees, books, and other things needed for learning.

Milestones Transition to Adulthood program supports families with a youth, 16 – 18 years of age, with a disability to help them prepare for successful transition to adulthood. We help the youth and family answer questions, access resources and work towards their transition to adulthood goals.

Since 1980, the Transitional Vocational Program at Mount Royal University has been providing a variety of post-secondary programs to adults with developmental disabilities. The Employment Preparation Certificate program was also established in 1980 and has, with continuous development, evaluation and change, supported students to find and maintain competitive employment. The Transitional Vocational Program also offers part-time studies. Courses include Functional Literacy and Math; Computers, Tablets and Smartphones; Learner's Licence Test Preparation; Life Skills; Introduction to Computer Coding; Graphic Design; Basic Living Skills; Personal Safety; Understanding the World Today; The Wonderful World of Music; Standard First Aid (accommodated), and Eating Right, Living Right.

DREAMS can take you, and/or your child(ren) and/or your relatives to and from your medical appointments in Calgary and/or surrounding area. Our fleet is a mix of wheelchair accessible vehicles with lifts and non-wheelchair accessible vehicles. We can direct bill FSCD, WCB, AISH or PDD (if transportation is included in your contract and approved). For single riders, our rates are based on time and/or distance and are similar to taxi rates after that.

The Triple P Positive Parenting Program is a system of supports offered through weekly sessions via Zoom. Triple P aims to work with parents to use Positive Parenting Program strategies to develop a positive relationship with their child, encourage appropriate behavior, teach their child new skills, manage misbehavior and implement planned activities routines for high-risk parenting situations.

Triple P is a parent directed program aiming to build parents’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in helping their child develop positive behaviours.

Kids Cancer Care matches patients and survivors in kindergarten to grade 12 with tutors, who provide in-person (in Calgary) or online one-to-one tutoring. These tutoring sessions help learners work towards specific academic goals while boosting their confidence and helping them develop general learning skills.

Vecova’s Mental Health Services clinic provides mental health support and education to persons with disabilities and their support networks. Their services include: assessments, individual and group counselling, educational and peer support groups, coaching, behavioural planning and consultation, staff training and resources, supervision of graduate practicum students and provisional psychologists.

Eye exams are fully-covered for children under 19 years of age and are recommended every year, regardless of prior results. Vision is a child’s most important learning tool and poor vision can lead to poor results in school. Nation’s Vision specializes in child eye exams performing thousands of in-school portable exams each year.

The Visiting Parents Program is comprised of trained volunteers who willingly give their time because they remember what is like when they were told their baby had Down syndrome. They will be happy to listen to your concerns, answer your questions and share with you what life has been like for them and their families.

Offers a variety of visual and performing arts programs for individuals with disabilities. Artists who are not registered with PDD can still participate, but applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and may be required to pay the full costs of the program.

Our mission is to empower youth to find and build their communities. Through our different eight programs, Youth Central offers volunteer and leadership opportunities to ALL youth aged 12-18. Through our Volunteer Corps program, youth can choose to sign up for various volunteer projects with anyone of our community partners. Through this program, youth volunteer in groups and are led by a Youth Central Team Lead. Youth are welcome to bring a support worker with them to shifts.

Through the VIT program, Between Friends gives their members the opportunity to learn the skills to become a volunteer in a safe and inclusive environment. Volunteers in Training (VITs) are given the chance to volunteer in W.E.S.O.A.R! and/or Camp Bonaventure. Note: The VIT Leader does not act as a 1:1 community aide, or respite worker.

Vulnerable Population Services (VPS) offers specialized service attention to newcomers in difficult scenarios using a Case Management & Wrap Around approach. Each person is assessed in a comprehensive way & services are provided in all areas of one’s life where attention is required & requested. We will work with the client to attend to their basic needs, income, housing, work & career preparation, settlement, integration, health, mental health, risk mitigation, safety planning, sexuality, family issues, legal issues, domestic violence & more.

This scholarship aims to recognize All-Star students who have persevered in the face of a learning limitation or disability (invisible/visible, i.e., ADHD, Dyslexia, hearing impaired, etc.). Applicant must identify as Muslim; having a learning limitation and/or disability (as defined by the Accessible Canada Act); and is currently enrolled full time in their last year at a recognized Canadian High School/CEGEP program and intends to pursue post secondary education full time in the fall.

Program Unit Funding (PUF) is available for students identified with speech, gross motor and fine motor challenges in Early Childhood Education. Student progress is closely monitored through an Individualized Program Plan (IPP) and supported by staff members and specialists. Students involved in the PUF program are fully included within the classroom.

This service helps youth and their families prepare for the transition from pediatric to adult healthcare. This service offers the following transition to adult healthcare supports for patients and their families: -Well on Your Way website – Provides information, tools and resources for youth, families and healthcare providers regarding the transition to adult healthcare -Teens Talk Transition – Workshops to help youth and their families prepare for the transition from pediatric to adult healthcare. Powerchair soccer has been described as “playing soccer in go karts!” by our athletes. Plastic or metal footguards are attached to the front of power wheelchairs to maneuver a giant soccer ball.

Offers a variety of sport programs for youth and adults. Winter programs include blind hockey, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, skating, and snow-shoeing. Indoor program include archery, bowling, dance, gymnastics, indoor rock climbing, martial arts, Movement 4 Me program, skateboarding, swimming, and yoga. Summer sports include dragon boat, lawn bowls, running club, sailing, soccer, tandem cycling, and walking club.

Every child deserves to have a one-of-a-kind and life-changing experience. The child must be between the ages of 3 and 17, have a critical illness that is currently in the life-threatening stage, and have not received a prior wish from any wish-granting organization to be eligible. Referrals are accepted from medical professionals, parents or guardians, or a potential child directly.

Fulfilling wishes for terminally ill adults experiencing financial hardship.

The WBUCR2 program operates as a lending library allowing children to borrow adapted bikes for the summer months as well as during the school year. Children are assessed by a trained Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist to ensure they have a bike that suits their individual needs. Families pay a small rental fee ($75.00) and borrow the bike from May – October. The bikes are then re-distributed amongst the schools and used for in school bike programming.

This program is designed to help your Grade 1 or 2 child become a confident and engaged reader. Weekly sessions over a period of six weeks and include stories, games, and fun activities with a focus on building phonemic awareness and decoding skills.

The Workplace Readiness Mentorship Program, funded by Sun Life, will provide one $2,000 scholarship to a student in Alberta who is entering or currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution and match them with a volunteer mentor who will provide guidance and assist them in preparing for the workplace.

Our recreation professionals support young adults who have a disability, struggle with mental health, or face social isolation. Programs vary every month and include activities which focus on independence/life skills, employment skills, interpersonal skills, games, financial literacy, social and leisure exploration, and more.

Awo Taan’s Youth Mentorship Program is for any youth aged 13-17. The program consists of traditional aboriginal teachings, cultural awareness and support as well as physical wellness and recreational events.
