What is AISH?
Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) is a Government of Alberta program that provides financial and health benefits to eligible Albertans with a permanent medical condition that prevents them from earning a living.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for AISH, you must meet age, residency, medical and financial criteria.
- Youth must be 17.5 years of age to apply
- Must have a permanent medical condition or disability that limits the ability to earn a living and affects daily life
- Must be willing to attend training programs and make use of suitable training or rehabilitation
- If eligible for PDD, you will be eligible for AISH

What does AISH offer?
If eligible for AISH, you may receive the following:
- a monthly living allowance
- a monthly child benefitto assist with raising your dependent child(ren)
- health benefits which may include prescription drugs, diabetic supplies, optical coverage, dental services, emergency ambulance, AADL costs
- personal benefits to assist in covering specific needs over your monthly living allowance (determined on a case-by-case basis)
