Preschool and Kindergarten (PUF Program)

Pacekids’ Early Childhood Services (ECS) Program follows the curriculum and standards set by Alberta Education and is an approved, Private ECS Operator for Program Unit Funding (PUF) from Alberta Education.

Private Occupational Therapy
Dedicated to providing new and current Pacekids families access to private assessment and direct therapy options for special needs children, Pacekids’ PAT team offers a full range of assessment and therapy services. Offers Occupational Therapy services - Occupational Therapists are specialists who target activities of daily living; areas that they assess and treat include fine motor, hand writing, sensory processing, self-care skills, self regulation and feeding.
Ages: 0-10
Specialized Services
Specialized Services for children from six months of age to 10 years old, based on clinical discretion. Specialized Services is a program that is designed to work directly with children with disabilities and their families. By utilizing therapists from up-to-four disciplines (as determined by the FSCD MDT process), the trans-disciplinary approach allows the team to work collaboratively to meet the various needs of a child and their family.

Toddler and Family Support
Developed for children with disabilities between 1 year – 3-years old and their parents/guardians, Toddler & Family Support Program provides a critical early intervention opportunity for children and parents to connect and learn from clinical experts and peers, build natural support connections, and lay important groundwork in preparation for pre-school and kindergarten.

Behavioural and Developmental Supports (BDS)
Pacekids is a qualified provider of the Behavioural & Developmental Supports (BDS) Program funded through Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD). Pacekids BDS programming supports families with children from six months to approximately 10 years of age.

Private Speech and Language Therapy
Dedicated to providing new and current Pacekids families access to private assessment and direct therapy options for special needs children, Pacekids’ PAT team offers a full range of assessment and therapy services. Offers Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) services- Speech-Language Pathologists are specialists who execute speech-language assessments and treat the following communication difficulties; speech-sound errors, language comprehension, sentence structure, stuttering, voice disorders and non-verbal communication.

Psycho-Educational Assessments
Psychologists are specialists who assess an individual’s intellectual ability, achievement levels, social/emotional and behavioural functioning through standardized tests. This is referred to as a psycho-educational assessment. A psycho-educational assessment can be completed with children and adolescents (aged 6+) to help identify strengths as well as underlying challenges (e.g. ADHD, Learning Disabilities and any associated disorders).
Ages: 6-10
Private Counselling Services for Children and Youth
Counselling would be appropriate for children and youth with “typical” development, and with various special needs, such as, Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disorders. Counselling areas include: Play skills, social skills and peer interaction, behaviour problems, anxiety, emotional development and regulation, parent and child conflict, and parenting support and consultation. This counselling service provides psychological support for children and youth, ages 3-14 years old, and their parents.

Triple P - Positive Parenting Program
The Triple P Positive Parenting Program is a system of supports offered through weekly sessions via Zoom. Triple P aims to work with parents to use Positive Parenting Program strategies to develop a positive relationship with their child, encourage appropriate behavior, teach their child new skills, manage misbehavior and implement planned activities routines for high-risk parenting situations.

Private Physiotherapy
Dedicated to providing new and current Pacekids families access to private assessment and direct therapy options for special needs children, Pacekids’ PAT team offers a full range of assessment and therapy services. Offers physiotherapy services - physiotherapists are specialists who work with movement and assess and treat gross motor skills (running, jumping, ball skills), balance and stability and the coordination of different muscles for different activities.

About this Organization

Created in 1994 by a passionate group of parents who wanted to see their children thrive, Pacekids Programs has impacted the lives of thousands of children and families through an Alberta Education licensed Early Childhood Services (ECS) program and a variety of Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) funded in-home and in-community programs.
